Ice Tea Lemonade

Ten minute tea with Afternoon Tea. Spend ten minutes with Afternoon Tea. In the time it takes to boil one kettle, and let one cup of tea steep, we will have your daily art + music fix covered. Take your afternoon tea break with our Afternoon Tea curators.

Today’s tea + soundtrack + visuals curated by Carolina East. A creation of the maritime elements, Carolina East is a vibrant and bold songstress from Newfoundland and Labrador. Proudly wearing an eclectic tapestry of musical influences; from soul, to country, to pop. After receiving nominations for ECMA’s Indigenous Artist of the Year 2020, winning Music NL’s Country Artist of the Year 2020, Carolina East recently joined the SiriusXM Top of the Country competition as one of eight competing semi-finalists. Drenched in emotion and fuelled by Carolina’s powerful vocals, her debut full-length album, ‘Soaked in Whisky’ is due out summer of 2021.

“Monster” is an emotional ballad about the trials and challenges of being in the wrong relationship and knowing when to get out.

Art: “Mary Ann Penashue is an Innu artist born in 1964 in Birch Island near Goose Bay, NL. She resides with her husband, children and grandchildren in Sheshatshiu, Labrador. Raised by her grandparents in a small village called Mud Lake, Mary Ann learned from them Innu culture and traditions. Her earliest memories are of being tucked into her bed amongst the spruce boughs in the traditional Innu tent and watching her grandparents drum and dance by the light of the fire. The ritual, she recalls, reflects the thanks Innu gave to the creator for the bounty provided by the land and animals.” (**biography taken from an online source**) “This beautifully detailed painting hangs proudly in a very dear friend’s home. I am always drawn to this piece. The amazing use of colour, and the detail in this painting makes me feel so connected and happy.”

“I’m not a fan of warm or hot drinks,  but when you put this ice tea lemonade in front of me… look out!  With summer fast approaching, I’m sure to be making many jugs of this delicious bevey!”
