Ten minute tea with Afternoon Tea. Spend ten minutes with Afternoon Tea. In the time it takes to boil one kettle, and let one cup of tea steep, we will have your daily art + music fix covered. Take your afternoon tea break with our Afternoon Tea curators. Need an extra lump of sugar? One more sip? If you have five minutes more, we have one more hit.
Today’s tea + soundtrack + visuals curated by Friendly Rich, who released an experimental collaboration album with David Sait and {AN} EeL.
The album is titled A Muffled Snore and consists of twelve beautifully strange tales that soar through dark, timeless atmospheres. With the Dadaist texts of {An} EeL pairing with Friendly Rich’s dark vocal delivery and the other-worldly sounds of David Sait, this recording is cinematic, dreamy, and psychedelic. The narration is like a collection of twisted fairy tales describing mysterious places, rituals, and dark secrets leading with the single “The Dainty Dandies” which has been paired with a video.
TEA: Chamomile with a hint of honey
ART:

“I’ve been obsessing over this website and post-modern thing of beauty, InfoChammel created by video artist Davy Force. I’ve known about the chammel for years, but for some reason it just really clicked during the odd state we find ourselves in during the quarantine. It’s like high art junk mail, modern day SCTV, all the colours to you!!! It feels noisy, and frantic, just how I like my art, so I pair it naturally with a calming chamomile tea. Maybe add a hint of honey in honour of Teleborg!”
MUSIC: “Maylee Todd – ‘No Other’
“Been digging Maylee Todd’s new single ‘No Other’. Especially this live version rockin’ the Tenori-On. Maylee’s approach to creativity, whether it be exploring new opportunities in virtual reality, projection mapping or her innovative approaches to music production — it all really excites me. I’m very inspired by her work, and looking forward to her upcoming release on Stones Throw later this year!”
One more lump. One more cup.
