Today’s tea + soundtrack + visuals curated by Christien Ledroit. Known for organically blending his background in rock and classical music, composer Christien Ledroit is equally at home in both worlds. His music has shows influences Stravinsky, Debussy, Thomas Newman and David Lang.
“We were walking through MOMA in New York and I came around a corner and saw this, and just sat and stared at it for a good half hour. Not because I immediately loved it, or felt moved by it, but because I wanted to understand it. The shapes and delineations are so deliberate, it made me wonder why. So I sat and stared at it, and thought about what made Rothko do this, or that. And maybe that’s what he was getting at.”
We here at Afternoon Tea are big Chris Ledroit fans, and asked him for a piece of his own work. “This is a piece for solo violin with electronics”
“Here’s one of the two pieces that inspired it”
