Take your afternoon break with our Afternoon Tea features. Need an extra lump of sugar? One more sip? If you have five minutes more (or ten), we have one more hit.

Today’s feature is curated with Nabil Muquit and Afternoon Tea. We discuss the single drop for “Augustina” including the visual + audio inspirations for the release. And of course, we had to ask, which tea to pair with this curation.

“Influenced by a desire for intimacy and a touch of fantasy, ‘Augustina’ is a poignant reflection of Nabil Muquit’s artistic vision. Inspired by his mentor Braxton Cook, a renowned jazz Saxophonist and Singer-Songwriter, Nabil found the courage to embark on his solo artist journey during his college years. The track, which was crafted during winter/spring 2024, will finally grace streaming platforms in summer 2025 after a summer filled with live shows and creative collaborations by Nabil Muquit. Drawing from elements of lofi hiphop, electronic dance music, and ambient jazz, “Augustina” promises to transport listeners to a realm of romance and passion often missing in today’s music landscape.”

“My main influence both visually and artistically is an indie artist named Braxton Cook. He’s a singer/song-writer who’s been a longtime friend/mentor of mine. He just came out with a new album ‘Not Everyone Can Go’ that’s really dope. Him and Mac Miller have been in heavy rotation for this rollout; the fusion of jazz and rnb with psychedelic flavors and colors is real neat, and fun and cool, and I love it.”

Not Everyone Can Go

“As far as tea, I would pair Augustina with a nice chamomile tea. You can dress it as you like, but i like mine with vanilla, honey, and lavender, w/ a splash of milk :)”

One extra spoon of honey. Regarding inspirations: “if your looking for a good visual representation(…) mac millers tiny desk” is another influence. “…more live and acoustic sounds…” We are among the many who agree. The Tiny Desk Concerts really being something unique to performance.

NPR Music

“Nabil Muquit, hailing from Norristown, United States, is a rising artist making waves in the music scene. His original single, ‘Augustina,’ released on September 12, 2025, showcases his unique talent and creativity. Nabil penned this track in a dark UNT studio, reflecting on his journey from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Denton, Texas. With its origins on a piano, ‘Augustina’ evolved into a beautifully produced studio track that has become a staple in Nabil’s live performances. As Nabil gears up to expand his solo discography this year, fans can expect more captivating music following the success of his collaboration with Jake the Jeweler on ‘Kelly Drive/Pistachio.”
