Today’s tea + soundtrack + visuals curated by Paige Warner.
With an evocative voice that captivates her audience, Ontario’s Paige Warner creates alt-pop music with soul-inspired vocal licks layered on catchy hooks of poetic lyrics. Her ultimate drive in life and music is to create moments for people to feel empowered and seen, whether in their sadness and pain, happiness and love, or confusion and uncertainty.
A collection of songs spanning years apart, Warner’s debut LP, Bitter/Sweet, is themed to women’s empowerment, the aftermath of a breakup (whether bitter, angry, sad, or hopeful) and surviving abuse. “This album has taught me that life is so extraordinarily varied,” she says. “These songs are all from different eras and experiences in my life, yet they come together in this album as one body of work.”
The album’s saucy and defiant focus track, “Bitter,” was produced to crescendo along with the lyrics of the song, growing bolder and more swung. “The word ‘Bitter‘ is usually used in a negative way, but this song is about how being bitter is fun and is sometimes a better alternative to being broken-hearted.”

Song: Meaning Well – Mia Kelly
Listening to the wisdom of past generations of womxn and finding comfort in their words is so beautifully expressed in this song. It’s painful to navigate life, and I love this reminder to lean on their advice. Mia Kelly is incredible at describing painfully relatable experiences as beautifully poetic visuals. Her new single “Lone Dog” is another tune that I find brilliant. I’ve come across more of these lone dogs than I can count.
Visual: Spoken word by Georgie Jones
Georgie Jones is one of my favourite poets. “An Ode To The Nightclub Loo” is a beautiful reminder of the community, support, and positivity that exists when the patriarchy is removed even for just a moment. No gaze but that of other womxn who want to see you thrive!
Tea: French Vanilla Chai
Chai tea is so nostalgic to me. Growing up, my family’s staple teas were Earl Grey and Chai Tea. I have an aggressive sweet tooth, so the French Vanilla is just an added bonus! I drink this tea weekly, if not daily with a splash of milk and a spoonful of maple syrup if I’m feeling extra nostalgic.
